  • Score the paper backing along the cut line and snap the sheet cleanly.

Install Drywall Sheets:

  • Start by attaching sheets to the ceiling, working your way down to the walls.
  • Use drywall screws to secure the sheets to the framing, spacing them every 12-16 inches.
  • Sink the screws slightly below the surface of the drywall paper to avoid bumps.


Tape the Seams:

  • Apply paper or mesh drywall tape over the seams between sheets.
  • Press the tape firmly into the joint compound to create a smooth transition.


Apply Joint Compound:

  • Apply a layer of joint compound over the tape and screws, feathering the edges to blend seamlessly.
  • Let the compound dry completely before sanding.


Sand the Joints:

  • Use a sanding block or pole sander to smooth the dried compound, to make an even surface.


Apply Additional Coats of Compound (if needed):

  • Apply additional coats of compound to fill any imperfections or create a smoother finish.
  • Sand between coats for a level surface.


Prime and Paint:

  • Apply a primer to seal the drywall and create a base for paint.
  • Once the primer is dry, apply your desired paint finish.
