Exterior Home Colors for 2024

Feb 09, 2024

The exterior of our house will determine the first impression a visitor will have and as the saying goes, there is no second chance to make a first impression. It is also what we will show to all those who know us or will not pass through the area. And to be honest, we all like to please, right?

Exterior Home colors for 2024

For this reason, and although in Productive Paints we insist a lot that the exterior coating of our home is not only a decorative element, but that it should serve to protect the building, we do believe that the color or combination of colors that we choose is something that we should think very well. And more if we choose paints as durable as ours?

Joking aside, painting the exterior of the building is a decision that we must think about responsibly since it is a good investment and a decision that we must live with for years. That is why our decoration experts bring you some of the exterior house colors that we believe will hit the hardest in the coming years, although without ruling out the classics. Because let’s face it, the white facade will never die.

White Palette

We have been saying it for a long time. Off-white is one of the hottest exterior paint colors right now, and it’s still here to stay in 2024. To pull off this trend, though, go for a warm, creamy white.

In general, we never suggest a simple, stark white when choosing exterior paint. We usually never suggest pure, harsh white when choosing exterior paint, so seeing warm whites accented with wood colors is definitely a trend to follow. Off-white is one of the trendiest exterior paint colors, and it’s still here to stay in 2024.

  • White and brown: The brown windows and doors catch the eye, while the white exterior walls emphasize shadow and light, mark lines and volumes.
  • White and Grey: Light gray is a color that has recently made its way into interior design trends. Calm and sophisticated, it is a subtle shade that can be used to accentuate certain facade elements.
  • Black and White: The stark contrast between the white exterior and the black details is a classic combination that will stay in style for a long time.

Gray Palette

We, for our part, are super happy that gray has slowly started to diversify the fairways as it provides an alternative to beige. Although we saw a decline in more raw grays with cooler undertones in 2020, start thinking about grays with warm undertones and hints of beige and green. Gray has warm undertones but can be seen as cool in certain lighting, such as on cloudy days. It creates such a Zen look that it brings a lot of calm, and who doesn’t want to feel that way when they get home?

Lately, the exteriors of the houses have increased in dark gray, almost black. Who doesn’t love dark grey, charcoal and basalt? This trendy color has its moment, but it’s also a classic. Some of our favorite dark grays are slate, charcoal, and the aforementioned basalt.

Beige

If you thought we were moving away from beige before, think again. A pretty beige is hard to beat. The 2023 beige is still warm but without the tendency to turn yellow. It is subtle and almost whitish in different lighting. For this reason, we are going to recommend Beige in 2024 as a reference color. And when you scroll through Instagram, you’ll notice that almost every blogger is using a warm beige filter right now. Coincidence? We think not.

Two tones

Lately we have seen an increase in two-story designs, both in traditional houses and in modern buildings. The anticipated trend points in the direction of a design with two complementary colors. Think of two shades, that work well together … maybe one on the top and one on the bottom, or one on the side and one in the middle. In 2024, more and more houses will adopt this style.

  • Yellow and Blue: Playful and Authoritative.
  • Navy and Teal: Soothing or Striking.
  • Black and Orange: Lively and Powerful.
  • Maroon and Peach: Elegant and Tranquil.
  • Deep Purple and Blue: Serene and Dependable.
  • Navy and Orange: Entertaining yet Credible.

The Wood

Don’t get us wrong, paint is a game changer; however, if you can stain or add some wood to the exterior of your home, go for it! In 2024, there is going to be a push towards earthy tones and natural elements. Wood is a perfect way, in large or small doses, to embrace this trend.

White frames around the windows

Looking for a way to add a little flair in 2024? Add some extra trim around your windows and paint it a nice white color. A soft white trim can look lovely on a dark colored home or even on a lighter color for a more monochromatic look. Don’t be nervous about wearing this look around black or white windows.

Sapphire Blue

Like slate, sapphire blue is one of those colors that varies a lot. Some appear bluer and even venture into royal blue territory. For exteriors, we suggest a sapphire blue that is rather neutral. It works on coastal chalets, historic farmhouses, and mid-century modern homes alike. There really aren’t too many rules when working with a good sapphire blue.

Saffron Yellow

A pale yellow offers warmth without being excessive or marking you as the weird house in your neighborhood.

Coral red

This color works in the country but can also add impact in a neighborhood. It gives a traditional look while still having a touch of personality.

Exterior house colors trends

The exterior of the house is as important as all the rooms that compose it. A good presentation, a good appearance and a good color combination are therefore the calling card of the rest of the house. The possibilities are endless, there are many beautiful colors to paint the exterior of your home. Exterior painting is the combination of a whole and not just the wall, it must be analyzed carefully, imagine projecting it and then finally painting it.
